Murray River Meander 3 day Tour
Day 1: Canberra to Corowa:
Today we depart on our Murray River Meander, south along the Hume Highway towards the Rutherglen and Corowa region. Our first stop is the Historic town of Howlong for lunch. The town dates back to 1836 when Major Mitchell established his camp on the southern bank of the Murray River. Then on to Morris Wines Established in 1859, The Morris family became the largest wine produces in the Southern Hemisphere. Today, fifth generation winemaker David Morris is one of Australia’s most outstanding Winemakers.
We also stop in at The House at Mount Prior Vineyard the first vines were planted by Mr T C Farmer in 1860. After spending a great afternoon at the wineries, we head to Corowa for our accommodation,for the next two nights.Your hosts Rose and Graham Rout, Paula & Paul Reynolds At the Greenacres Resort Motel. Day 2: (B.D) Corowa to Beechworth:
Today we will be heading towards the Historic Town of Beechworth. Arriving at the fascinating town of Beechworth with its blend of culture, adventure, mystery, history and passion, stand on the dock and the cell where Ned Kelly stood during his committal hearing in the courthouse. Many of the walks are self-guided which means you can experience them at your own pace and then enjoy a lazy lunch.
Before heading back to our motel in Corowa via Chiltern we will stop at Rutherglen where we can meander along the beautiful old Main Street, under the shady verandas of a bygone era. Take a well earned break at any one of the quirky cafes or bakeries in the main street. On arriving at our motel we will have a mouth watering BBQ dinner under the stars.
Day 3:(B.L) Yarrawonga to Canberra
Paradise QueenWe say farewell to our Hosts Wayne & Jennie Gould and head to Yarrawonga (Rich Glen Olive Grove) established in 1979 by the Vodusek Family. Rich Glen Estate is one of the largest family owned and operated Olive Groves in Australia. With the grove now producing alomost 100.00 liters of extra virgin olive oil. Then we can have a stroll through the town of Yarrawonga before heading onto Mulwala where we will have a cruise on the "Paradise Queen" and BBQ lunch, before heading homeward bound.
